Balfour Declaration events
Scottish Friends of Palestine are promoting some events to mark the centenary of the Balfour Declaration .
The Balfour Declaration was a short letter dated November 1917 from foreign secretary Arthur Balfour to Lord Rothschild a leading figure in the Jewish community which gave support to the creation of a Jewish homeland in Palestine.
This was a very significant document and it is important to increase awareness of its importance to the current day .
Scottish Friends of Palestine are supporting an evening of Music and Reflection on the Balfour Declaration in the Celtic Sports Club Bridgegate Irvine on Friday November 3 at 8pm.
More information will be published about this event over the next few months – but hopefully people will make a note of it in their diary.
It is also hoped that there will be an event on the implications of the Balfour Declaration in Glasgow and some other areas.
